How to Approach the IAAPA Expo | The Expert View
The four-day IAAPA Expo features new products, cutting-edge services, educational sessions from industry leaders, and networking opportunities. Learn everything about the future of family entertainment centers, parks, and attractions at IAAPA Expo Orlando! Although we have been attending IAAPA Expo with our Arkadia VR Arena for a couple of years now, we thought to ask industry experts about what operators can better do to prepare for such a show. Besides the key elements such as thorough preparation and strategy before the Expo begins, many things can be easily forgotten. There’s a lot of pressure, a lot of things happening in such a big show.

Many thanks to George McAuliffe, President at Pinnacle Entertainment Group, Kevin Williams, Co-Founder & Technology Director at Spider Entertainment, and Kenton Steinhardt, Sr. Project Coordinator at Immersive Planet for providing this valuable information.
Have a plan for IAAPA Trade Show
Although it’s quite obvious, you should be focusing your efforts prior to the trade show on doing some planning.
You should…
Check out the floor plan and the exhibitor list and make a list of exhibitors you’d like to meet with.
Check out the industry news and publications, because a lot of companies will promote themselves there.
Look for the education opportunities as sometimes the education seminars will outline your daily schedules.
Make appointments in advance.
Set up enough time between meetings to recollect and analyze how each meeting went.
“The old saying that goes “Success is when preparation meets opportunity”. There is a lot of opportunity at IAAPA. Preparation and planning are really the key.”
George McAuliffe, President of Pinnacle Entertainment Group
Bring enough business cards with you to the IAAPA Trade Show
You should keep in mind that you will meet a lot of different potential partners, clients, and businesses so make sure you bring enough business cards with you to the trade show.
“If you’re looking to open an FEC then you need to look at the three main components: the experience you are offering to your guests, the means by which your guests pay for that experience, and how you get your guests to come back again and again – repeat visitations.”
Kevin Williams, Co-Founder & Technology Director at Spider Entertainment
Make some deals
When you are attending the show, you probably know in advance what you would like to see, so make sure to check those people first and make appointments in advance.
“Do your research, find out who you want to talk with and that would be able to help you maximize your time so that you can make the best of the time that you have on the show and explore around those 4 days.”
Kenton Steinhardt – Sr. Project Coordinator at Immersive Planet
